Advice for Easter 🐣

nutrition May 16, 2022

For those that celebrate it, it’s Easter Sunday this Sunday. It’s to mark the day that Jesus rose from the dead. And what better way to celebrate than chocolate eggs?!

If you’ve been on my email list a while, you’ll remember that I advised giving up chocolate for ‘Lent’ because restriction leads to over-consumption.

If you did give up chocolate in the hope of losing weight, you might be wary about adding it back into your life and putting back on the weight.

I just thought I would share some tips on how to ‘get through’ Easter happily and healthily.

Don’t tell yourself you’re not going to eat any chocolate (if you like chocolate).

Plan an Easter Egg (or two!) into your daily calories but don’t keep your calories to your normal daily amount as you will still be hungry. If you usually aim for 2000 calories then you might aim for 2500-3000 for that day, which would bring your weekly average to only 2071 - 2142. Hardly a difference for an indulgent day!

Eat solid meals before you eat your chocolate. You can’t make rational decisions when you’re hungry.

Eat mindfully. Are you eating it because you’re enjoying it? Or are you clearing up your child’s chocolate after the Easter bunny erroneously brought a nestle egg? Slow down when eating. Eat for enjoyment. Stop when full.

There will always be more chocolate.

In fact, you can have an Easter egg on Monday. Or Tuesday.

You can have chocolate any day you want, and still achieve your fat loss goals.

If you don’t believe me, you need to join The Furnace today.

Stop demonising and restricting food. And please stop beating yourself for doing something as natural as eating.

Go enjoy that Easter Egg.

Have one for me!
